Hiking, nature, and spiritual travel enthusiasts will soon have a new attractive route in southern Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Camino Dubrovnik<\/strong> is a new pilgrimage and cultural-tourism route connecting Dubrovnik and Me\u0111ugorje, offering a unique spiritual, natural, and cultural experience.<\/p>

The Camino Dubrovnik trail is approximately 145 kilometers long and divided into seven sections, suitable for hikers of all levels and experience. The route begins at the Church of St. James in Dubrovnik and ends at the Church of St. James in Me\u0111ugorje. The journey spans seven days\u20143.5 days of hiking through Croatia and 3.5 days through Bosnia and Herzegovina\u2014passing through Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Riviera, Ravno, Neum, \u010capljina, and \u010citluk. The trail is marked with the distinctive Camino signage, ensuring safe and easy navigation, while traversing diverse landscapes\u2014from the Mediterranean coast to the hilly regions of Herzegovina.<\/p>

The official presentation of Camino Dubrovnik is scheduled for 6 March 2026<\/strong>, when a route presentation will be held at the University of Dubrovnik at 7:00 PM, detailing all aspects of organization, trail sections, and the future development of the project.<\/p>

The following day, Saturday, 7 March<\/strong>, a Service of the Word and blessing of pilgrims will take place at the Church of St. James in Dubrovnik at 7:30 AM, followed by the official opening of Camino Dubrovnik at 8:00 AM with a five-hour hike covering the 18 km first section from Dubrovnik to Moko\u0161ica, including an ascent of up to 402 meters above sea level. Participants will have a return bus arranged by Libertas from Moko\u0161ica to Dubrovnik, free of charge upon presenting their Pilgrim Passport. The Camino, or Way of St. James, is one of the most renowned pilgrimage networks in the world, with a tradition spanning over a thousand years. Its most famous route leads to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, but today the Camino represents an extensive network of paths across Europe, united by the symbol of St. James\u2019 shell and the universal message of the journey\u2014spiritual growth.<\/p>

Camino Dubrovnik is a member of the European Federation of Saint James Way<\/strong> and part of the wider network of Camino routes developing across Europe, modeled after the famous Camino de Santiago. Beyond its spiritual dimension, such trails promote active tourism, sustainable development of local communities, and the promotion of natural and cultural heritage along the route.<\/p>

By connecting Dubrovnik, a city of rich history and global recognition, with Me\u0111ugorje, one of the most famous Marian pilgrimage sites in the region, this Camino section has the potential to become a significant international pilgrimage and tourism route, attracting not only believers but also those seeking challenge, peace, and the experience of walking in nature.<\/p>
