Last weekend, Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the first edition of the international cycling race Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which connected the country’s inland areas with its access to the sea through three stages, with the ceremonial finale taking place in Neum.
This significant sporting event brought together more than 140 cyclists from 38 countries around the world, further confirming Bosnia and Herzegovina as an increasingly recognizable location on the international cycling scene.
The race started in Sarajevo, continued through Mostar and Ljubuški, and reached its culmination with the final stage on the route Ljubuški – Stolac – Neum, where the winners of the last stage, as well as the overall winner of the race, were decided.
The Finale in Neum Marked by Sport and a Positive Atmosphere
On Sunday, Neum became the centre of sporting events in the region, hosting the finish of this demanding and dynamic race. Although the final stage was the shortest, it proved to be exceptionally challenging due to the terrain configuration and climbs in the hinterland of Neum, which ultimately decided the winner.
Organizing an event of this scale was highly demanding, but thanks to the good coordination of all stakeholders involved, it was carried out successfully and at a high level, as confirmed by both participants and visitors.
On this occasion, Neum was filled with a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere. Numerous visitors and local residents followed the arrival of the competitors, while the finale was marked by sport, socializing and positive energy. A particularly memorable moment took place after the race, when the organizers, in a spirit of celebration and satisfaction with the successful completion of the event, symbolically marked the end of this great sporting story by jumping into the sea.
Promotion of Neum and Its Tourism Potential
The finish of the race in Neum once again confirmed the importance of the Municipality of Neum as an essential point on the tourism map of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through the combination of top-level sport and natural beauty, Neum presented itself as an attractive destination for active tourism, as well as a high-quality host of international events.
Events of this kind have multiple significance. In addition to promoting sport and a healthy lifestyle, they contribute to international visibility and strengthen the tourism offer through the organization of events that attract visitors and media attention.
The first edition of the Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina demonstrated great potential for further development, while the finale in Neum left a strong and positive impression, confirming its role as an important venue for sporting and tourism events.
